Learning outcomes
After completing the study unit, the student has
theoretical
knowledge to monitor the well-being of women and
the fetus
during irregular childbirth.
Know the current care guidelines and the use of
them in interprofessional work.
Can guide and support the woman and the family in
the
irregular birth.
Can assess the family's need for support and
strengthen
participation and planning and implementing
and carry out possible actions.
On completion of the unit of study, the student
will have in theory
skills to work with interprofessional
team and the prospective family,
implement and evaluate care during
irregular childbirth and follow-up the woman

Course contents
The role of the midwife in the care of irregular
childbirth:
- section and emergency section
- assisting in labor with vacuum extraction
- premature birth
- twin birth
- breech birth, complicated delivery
- shoulder dystocia
- readiness to receive a poor baby
- complications during and after childbirth in
the mother
- emergency baptism
- exercises and simulations
- written assignment and seminar
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Completed all competencies included in the
nursing-based study sections and participated in
Pregnancy and Health, Postpartum and
Family Centered Care and Prenatal Care.
