Learning outcomes

After completing the study unit, you will have the
knowledge to follow the well-being of the woman
and the fetus during regular childbirth and can
use standard care guidelines.

Can supervise and support the woman and the family
in the
in regular childbirth.

Can assess the family's need for support and
strengthen
participation and planning and implementation.

On completion of the unit of study, you will have
the skills to
together with inter-professional teams and the
prospective family to plan, implement and evaluate
care during regular childbirth and follow up on
the resources of the woman and the family and use
them as needed.

Course contents

Clinically supervised practice in a maternity unit.
Supervision is provided by a midwife and follows the
EU directives.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Completion of theoretical knowledge of care during
regular childbirth.

Medication exam completed at least 2 weeks before
the start of the internship or as required by
by the examiner.

In addition, decision 6/2020 of the Vice-Dean
applies to
adequate language skills in Swedish and Finnish
when the internship is to be booked.

Additional information

The work trips are done according to the
supervisors and
unit planning. 38h/week in three shifts.
The practical assignment is done on its learning.
Reporting of hours worked and
evaluation should be submitted on its learning.
Vaccination certificate and investigation of
infectious diseases
diseases are followed according to the usual
directives and
welfare requirements.
