Competency aims

Upon completion of this course each student will be able to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are necessary when meeting patients basic care needs.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to: - understand the importance of an aseptic way to work for ones own and the patients safety - meet the basic needs of a patient - perform basic care activities - create a caring relationship - put the caring process into practice - understand the spiritual needs of the patient and give care at the end of life. - understand transcultural nursing as a basis for care. - give first aid in case of emergency

The course contains the following parts: Aseptics and hygiene (1) Clinical Care (5 cr) Spirituality and end of life care (1) Trans-cultural care (2 cr) First aid (1 cr)

Additional information

Compulsory attendance: 1. First lecture - introduction to course 2. Clinical training in the Lab/Simulation center 3. Both theoretical and Practical Exams To pass the course the student must receive a minimum of 60% score.(Students who are absent from lectures will receive an additional assignment or test which must be completed prior to the Final Exam date listed in ARBS).
