Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the development work is based on the reality of public health. The student develops her/his abilities to take responsibility to develop the profession of public health nurses.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to have tools for developing the profession of public health nurses and to combine her/his theoretical studies within the reality of care. The student is able deepen his/her understanding within the field of public health.

Course contents

The final thesis can be the theoretical base for the development work and can for example result in an article, a poster or an abstract for her/his future work. The development work can be introduced in different national or international conferences. The idea for the development work must be approved by the public health teacher.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The student can proceed with the development work during the fourth study year. The student has to have completed the studies within nursing and have knowledge in the special field of public health work.

The development work is assessed with grades 0-5. It follows the process description 10% The subject is clearly delimited, it is of appropriate length and the language is flawless and accurate 10% The development work has a scientific background and a clear purpose 30% It brings new knowledge to the working field 30% It has a pedagocical connection 10% The oral presentation and leading of the discussion about the own theme 10%
