Competency aims

Students develop their skills in the field of occupational therapy: - Is able to theoretically explain and practically apply different models for occupational therapy for increaseing activity opportunities and participation among clients with activity limitations caused by rheumatologic diseases or hand surgery, orthopedic and traumatological injuries Students develop their skills in the field of the occupational therapy process and professional reasoning by: - Understanding how the injury / impairment affects an individual's occupational performance and participation in the various activity areas - Can through professional reasoning support the client's occupational performance - Can assess, plan, implement and evaluate the client-centered occupational therapy for the client with activity limitations Students develop their skills in the field of professional relationship and partnership: - understand the importance of the multi- professional collaboration

Learning outcomes

The student has achieved the objectives of this course for the development of competence in occupational therapy: - Can explain and in a case implement the principles of rehabilitation - Can consider the environments importance to occupational performance The student has achieved the objectives of this course for the development of competence in the occupational therapyprocess and professional reasoning by: - Can define the client's occupational challenges and resources - Can select and apply an appropriate frame of reference to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the client-centered occupational therapy process and the occupational adaptation - In connection with practical exercises support the client's occupational performance - Can apply the occupational therapyprocess and a client-centered approach in different cases - Can explain and base their clinical reasoning on theory The student has achieved the objectives of this course for the development of competence in the professional relationship and partnership by: - Can in a case account for the multi- professional collaboration and the occupational therapists responsibilities ORTHOSIS: Students can make some basic static orthoses (for rest and work, thumb-and fingerortoses) and has theoretical knowledge to produce other static-and dynamic orthosis.

Course contents

Occupational therapy for people with rheumatic diseases, problems in support and locomotion, and traumatological damage. Occupational therapy for pain syndromes. The basics in theoretical models and the Occupational science concept, Occupational Adaptation. The hand function. Orthotic intervention for different diagnoses. Production of orthosis.

The language for teaching Dynamic handorthosis is English.
