Competency aims
The course will provide students with an
understanding and knowledge to the components
of life cycle assessments (LCA) and how to use
digital
tools to perform LCA calculations for processes
relevant to materials engineering and to the
building
sector.
Learning outcomes
After completion of this course students can
perform life cycle assessments (LCA)
independently
and they can interpret the results critically
and
propose changes to reduce undesirable
environmental
impacts.

- Material flow analysis (MFA)
- Environmental product declarations (EPD)
- Carbon assessment of buildings (OneClickLCA)
- Sustainability tools in CAD (SolidWorks)
