1. Develop an overall image of the circular
economy and understand its basic principles.
2. Understand the problems related to the way
we consume resources today and how the circular
economy can help in solving these problems.
3. Familiarise yourself with the methods that
could promote the circular economy.
4. Form a vision of the practical actions that
could be utilised in different sectors to
promote the circular economy.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, the student will
understand the priniciples of the circular economy
and be able to implement them to engineering
challenges.

Course contents

It is a hybrid course combining e-lessons,
lectures, a project and online exercises. We
will examine the current use of resources and
the
related
challenges and learn about the circular economy
model. We will then dive deep into the
following
themes from the perspective of the circular
economy:
a sustainable food system, forest-based cycles,
technical cycles, material cycles, and
transportation and the sharing economy.

The lectures, group exercises and project
presentations will all be held online in Zoom.
There are no excursions this year.
