Competency aims

The aim of this course is to give students the skill to use biocomposites damping capacity to increase a composite materials dynamic strength and maximize its life time

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student can distinguish between static and dynamic material charcteristics.The student shall be able to describe and measure strength of materials, fagitue and damping as well as use measurement methods to determine their magnintude.

Course contents

1. Under damped oscillator, resonance frequency and damping.
2. Rayleight damping and hysteresis, measurement of resonance frequency and loss factor.
3. Mechanical stress and Mohrs circle
4. Stress concentration at a hole and material fagitue.
