The focus of the study unit is on characteristics and analyses of parameters for fluids at rest and in motion.

Learning outcomes

You will understand the basic characteristics of fluids like density, viscosity and their interrelationships. (knowledge)
You understand the mechanics of fluid flow. (Knowledge)
You analyze relevant parameters such as, pressure velocity, head losses for fluid flow cross pipes. (knowledge)
You will apply the principles of fluid mechanics to model fluid flow in laminar and turbulent regimes using Finite Element Methods. ( Skill)

You will compare and justify the differences between theoretical and computational approaches to select the appropriate method in fluid flow analyses. (Attitude)
