Competency aims
The aim of the course is to gain an understand
of
common physical phenomena affecting buildings,
for
example “rising/penetrating damp” and the loss
of
heat in walls, roofs and foundations, with
focus
on damp protection and energy efficiency.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student is expected to be
able to estimate:
- heat transfer through walls, roofs and
foundations - heat transfer through windows and doors
- rising damp in walls
- if there is a risk for damp damage
Course contents
- calculations on heat transfer in a
homogeneous construction - methods how to calculate heat transfers in a
composite construction - calculations of damp through a building
construction - common structures in energy renovation
- common physical phenomena of a building
