Competency aims
The primary aim is to develop Business English communication skills required in the professional context. The course also aims to provide the student with the necessary support in study skills (writing, researching, presenting) to succeed in his/her degree studies.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to-
in academic areas:
-write appropriate, coherent and cohesive academic text in correct English.
-read with greater efficiency and take effective notes from written material and lectures.
-participate more effectively in routine academic interactions.
in professional areas:
-demonstrate competence in writing and speaking in professional contexts.
-demonstrate the ability to write effective key professional documents.
-understand the relationship between appropriate style and meaning of professional texts, and apply these elements in both oral and written contexts.
-competently participate in professional discourse in English.
-prepare and deliver a business presentation with effective use of IT tools, e.g. PowerPoint.
Course contents
Principles of effective communication in the business context; review of language structures; business English (form, style, vocabulary); academic writing (the research & writing process); professional writing (business documents, correspondence, reports).
Business presentations.

Entrance Examination in English
Skill level B2 in the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
