Competency aims

Aim of the course is to give introduction to
material and energy efficiency, life cycle
thinking and analysis, material recycling,
biobased raw materials

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to understand the factors
of material efficiency and energy efficiency,
evaluate the sustainable materials and
processes, to evaluate the benefits of material
recycling / biobased raw materials, and to be
aware of environmental legislation (national
and EU)

Course contents

Theory-based instruction on sustainability
principles, the circular economy, sustainable
energy, sustainable materials, plastic waste
sustainability R&D, water treatment and life
cycle assessment
Excursions to several different facilities
