Competency aims

The aim of the course is to present, discuss
and use different
theoretical strategic approaches as well as
through practical cases
learn how to act strategically in a quickly
changing business
landscape.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to:
- understand the development of strategic
thinking
- understand and use strategic tools for
analyzing the business
environment in general and the opportunities
the company could
pursue in the future
- comprehend the role of the board, the CEO and
the executive
management group in the strategy work of a
company
- understand the role of the corporate culture
in the
implementation of the strategy
- analyze companies in distress and suggest
strategic
alternatives and solutions to the problems the
company faces

Course contents

The course will deal with the following topics:
- the development of strategic thinking
- classical and new strategic tools
- the role of the board, CEO and the executive
management
group
- the role of corporate culture in strategy
work
- companies in distress
- the growth paradigm
- the ability to proactively react on changes
in the business
landscape

Prerequisites and co-requisites

A bachelor degree and at least three years work
experience gained
after completing the higher education degree
