Competency aims

The aim of the course is to provide the student
with theoretical knowledge to understand and be
able to analyze combustion processes. The
student should also understand the principles
of combustion equipment for solid, liquid and
gaseous fuels and for flue gas cleaning.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to analyze a combustion
process and determine flow rates of fuel,
combustion air and flue gases. The student
should also be able determine flue gas enthalpy
and the overall efficiency of the combustion
process.

Course contents

1. Stoichiometric combustion reactions
2. Fossil fuels
3. Biofuels
4. Miscellaneous fuels (waste, waste paper etc)
5. Flue gas cleaning
