This study module offers a tailor-made pallet of
learning offers through which learners develop
their entrepreneurial mindset and profession
specific working-life competencies and knowledge
by encompassing theoretical, methodical and
real-life work experiences thereby strengthening
their professional identity while assisting to
ensure their future employability.

Additional information

You will learn from both a practical (Part 1 A
or B and Part 3) and theoretical (Part 2)
perspective
about work life and you will also actively
develop your own competences and work life
skills (Part 3).
This work life oriented extension study module
(15 ect) is done partly (Part 1, 5 of 15 ect) in
cooperation with external partners, Demola and
Intelligence Hunt. Students need to SEPARATELY
apply and GET ACCEPTED to this part in order to
participate in the module.

You will choose My Future Work life 1 first
(15ect) and after completing this module you are
allowed to continue with My Future Work life 2
(15 ect).
This first module, My Future Work life 1
(15ect), is devided into three parts of which
parts 1 & 2 should be taken parallel in periods
1 and 2 Autumn 2019 and part 3 is done in
workshops (dates can be found in
ASTA) in period 2 or through
active individual choices during Spring 2020.

Option A, Demola, option for students in all
programs.
You participate in a work life oriented course
which takes part in periods 1 and 2 outside
Arcada, in Demola's facilities in on Epicenter
Helsinki (Mikonkatu 9). General description of
the course:
The concept: Demola innovation challenges
Demola innovation challenges are designed to
solve real future challenges and create new
service concepts and demos. With Demola, a
multidisciplinary team of university students
and company's experts work together in an
innovation challenge set by the company. During
an eight-week process, the team co-creates
solutions to the given theme.

Option B, Intelligence Hunt, optional for
students in Energy and Materials Technology,
International Business, Företagsekonomi &
International Business.
Intelligence Hunt sources talented students from
variety of faculties and universities all over
Europe, professional mentors with long and wide
industry and service experience and matches them
with a Case company with a real business case
assignment. Deliverables are comparable to a
pre-study or a feasibility study with a clear
and robust business case. Fresh new ideas and
the highest and most modern technological
solutions are emphasized throughout the whole
project.
Intelligence Hunt is arranged by Seafocus, an
executive maritime business platform that helps
students find their place in the maritime
logistics industry.

Part 2 eLearning Intro to Service Design
Thinking

This online course introduces you to customer-
centric service design thinking and is done
individually on your own parallel with either
Demola or Intelligence Hunt project.

Part 3
By actively reflecting during Part 1 and 2 you
do a self-evaluation to see what skills you want
to develop further and what skills you are
lacking and want to add to your skill-set. This
is done with a reflective diary according to
given guidelines.
To do this personal development plan Part 3 you
actively choose from a pallet of offerings, such
as different workshops (dates in ASTA) or
courses within or
outside Arcada.
