Competency aims

The aim of the course is to understand how to lead an event as a project both theoretically and practically.

Learning outcomes

After accomplished this course students are able to understand the meaning of event design and how to organize an event from management perspective. He/She will have a good vision of how to lead a project. Student will also have a good knowledge how to implement vision and strategy in concrete actions and what kind of environmental and customer service related issues must be taken in consideration.

Course contents

Students do two major projects during this course - a theoretical and a practical. In the theoretical project student get an event assignment from Fazer. They use the 'Event Planner's Guide' they created together with their group during the previous event courses as structure for their assignment. The Event that is designed for Fazer will be presented to their own group and Fazer's representatives. The practical project involves students working 'hands-on' in an event at Vanha Satama ,amount of participants is about two thousand. Through this practical exercise, the student experience in all phases of events - before, during and after. Discussions with the event's CEO conducted with the students prior to the event and even after, in order to enable students to reflect on their experiences and lessons learned with their fellow students and organizers. Course content: Event Design Management Planning, implementation, evaluation and writing a report of the own event Company visits to co-operation companies fter taking part in the set of three event sourses, you will be able to plan and implement an event from an idea to follow up both from a theoretical and a practical point of view.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Passed courses Event planning and safety,security and bureaucracy. Min 60 credits Third year students have priority. This course will be held in Swedish and Finnish languages.

The course will be held in Swedish. Reports may be in Swedish or depending on the customer (even in Finnish). Written report and practical exercise.his course is one of the three event courses and is not possible to choose as separate course. Student must have 100 credits passed
