his/her own professional field

Course contents

An intensive course that introduces the concepts of innovation
and
human-centered design to those working towards
experimentation,
artistic innovation and social change. Over the duration of the
three-
week course, you collaborate in design teams to complete
online and
offline coursework. Participants are encouraged to test their
imaginative limits and broaden their horizons through research.
This
is done by testing and enacting different experiments and
analysing
their results. In the end of the course each design team presents
a
prototype to a jury. The aim of the course is that you become a
more
innovative problem solver by building up your prototyping,
experimentation and communication skills.

Each day (over a time period of 10 days) consists of a brief,
presentations,
and team work.

Assesment criteria
We assess the prototypes presented by each innovation team. They
are measured against these criteria.
1. Social and environmental benefit – how does your design benefit
society and/or the environment?
2. Research and insights – how did you investigate this issue? What
were your key insights?
3. Design thinking – how did your research and insights inform your
solution? How did you develop, test, iterate and refine your concept?
Demonstrate the journey you’ve been through to the end result
4. Commercial awareness – does your journey make sense from a
financial point of view? What is the competitive environment your
solution would sit within?
5. Magic – we are looking for a bit of ‘magic’ – a surprising solution
 that delights
