The aim of the course is:

Use SolidWorks to create parts, drawings and assemblies

Performing stress analysis of parts using SolidWorks

Use toolbox and 3D ContentCentral in the design process of standard parts

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:

Use SolidWorks in the design process.

Course contents

Students will complete the SolidWorks Mountainboard Design Project comprising of the following sections:

Using the Interface
Basic Functionality
Basic Parts - The Binding
Revolved Features - The Wheel Hub
Thin Features - The Deck
Multibody Parts - The Axle and Truck
Sweeps and Lofts - Springs and Bindings
Final Assembly

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The course can be taken by any student after completing the Solid Modelling course using SolidWorks (or similar CAD course for exchange students).

Obtain SolidWorks for home use from:

There is one (optional) introduction lecture for this course. Students are then required to complete the work individually.
