Competency aims

The aim of the course is that students are able to prove basic knowledge in research methods and that they can apply basic research methods in their studies.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to on a basic level
- know and understand basic terms, designs, collecting data and qualitative and quantitative research methods
- read, analyse and critically look into scientific articles, reports and essays

Course contents

The research process.
Quantitative and qualitative research designs.
Questionnaires, interviews and observations as data collection methods.
Statistics.
Content analysis.
Research ethics.
Critical review of scientific articles, reports and thesis.
Information retrieval.
Scientific writing.
