Competency aims

The aim is that student can define concepts
related to assessment and has knowledge about
reliability in different assessments. Student
understands the purpose of assessment in
occupational therapy process and he is able to
report the results of assessment and to use the
information as a base for intervention planning.

Competence of the Occupational therapy Process and
clinical reasoning:
The student:
- gains an understanding of the purpose of
assessment process related to the occupational
therapy intervention.
- is able to use his clinical reasoning in
the assessment process to identify physical,
social, attitudinal and , cultural factors which
affects on occupational performance.
Competence in professional relationships and
partnerships:
- The student is aware of the principles for
client centered practice during assessment.
Competence in professional autonomy and
accountability:
The student
- follows the guidelines for documentation
in occupational therapy
Ethical competence:
The student
- understans the ethical principles that
direct the work of occupational therapists.
- is aware of the values in occupational
therapy during assessment.

Learning outcomes

Student is able to:
- explain the assessment process in
occupational therapy.
- use interview and observation to gather
information about the client
- make a critical review of assessment
manuals
- pay attention to the client's individual
circumstances during the assessment
- write an assessment report by using
professional terminology in occupational therapy.
- identify ethical issues in the assessment
process.
