Competency aims
The aim of the course is for the student to practice their ability to express themselves in writing analytically and reflectively about interactive productions online.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students are expected to have developed a deeper ability to conduct analytical and reflective discussion of the various types of interactive productions and their message.
Course contents
In order to pass the course, students analyze interactive productions online. The choice of productions is discussed with the course examinator to achieve highest possible focus on the work. Following the analyses the student writes three essays with 2000 words each essay.
The essays should contain:
facts about the works treated. That means e.g. information about the production company, year of production, screenwriter, director, producer, ie such that might be interesting about production creation. To clarify your goal, you should in the various essays present an issue that you specifically want to research and examine and that you want get answers to, or that you want to problematize. You may well be personal and your opinions may be heard in text but the work needs its analytical perspective that compare the productions relationship to each others and to the world they describe. It can for instance be about the values lying hidden in the productions and how they manifest them. It can involve production of knowledge, human and worldview, ethics and morality, genus perspective etc. Or the productions rhetoric, dramaturgy, aesthetics, scenery, pictorial narrative, audio work or other components that in different way affects our experience etc. You also have to use references if you strengthen/motivate your own opinions with theories or statements.
If you analyze something strongly visual (e.g. concerning usability) you have to refer to the production with images or links.
