Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the students will
learn the fundamentals of heat transfer and
thermodynamics.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to
1- understand basic concepts in thermodynamics
2- understand different modes of heat
transfer
3- do simple theoretical analysis of heat
exchangers.

* Introduction to thermodynamic concepts
* General energy analysis
* Properties of pure substances
* Energy Analysis of closed systems
* Energy analysis of open systems
* The second law of thermodynamics
* Introduction to heat transfer, conduction
convection and radiation
* One-Dimensional, steady state conduction
* Heat exchanger analysis
