The aim of the course is that students
know the basics of visual culture and
analysis of art

Learning outcomes

The student
• knows the current trends in culture and
different art
genres and is familiar with their historical
backround • is
able to identify and analyse cultural phenomena
and his/her
personal
relationship to them

Course contents

This is a study full of what art is, what it
does and why we
give it
value. We will review many different art forms:
music, art ,
games
, design, architecture, film and so on. Some
weeks , we
place the
emphasis on music, some in pictures, but do not
be
surprised if
such music mixed with fashion or film. A
characteristic of
our
times is that art forms and disciplines are
mixed and borrows
.
You will read texts, see and hear the material
, get familiar
with
theories that have practical implications :
they guide us in
what
we appreciate (or dislike ) build up our
understanding and
introduce new generations of our heritage.
Another
phenomenon
of our time is that we give the value of art in
different ways.
From a business perspective (eg tourism)
treated art as
experiences. Experience design is used in both
museums ,
festivals and cultural landscape. There are
various clusters
of
experiences and the most famous is heritage,
arts and
lifestyle
experiences.
The art world has traditionally been divided
into artists and
consumers. Artists who create works that other
people see
and
hear. A new figure in our society is the so-
called prosumern .
That is, a consumer who is also involved in
producing
experiences or the art that she consumes. The
professional
amateur or pro -am , is another new interesting
figure on the
art
scene . Amateur is someone who " loves " what
she does ,
and
nowadays you can be a pro at it. Moreover ,
culture is
producer a
fairly new figure in the arts scene .
Work form
Studies program consists of lectures , clinics
, seminars ,
individual work and project work.
You will be working on a project for the course
in which you
and
your fellow students create a concept for your
own
experience.
The order for this project is that you will
create an
experience
that includes "social gaming . "
During the course you will learn also to work
with and
analyze
the images, but also music. At the same time ,
you should be
aware of how culture and art relate to today's
society. The
main
objective of this course is that you, as
students develop and
deepen your relationship with the arts , learn
the basics of
design experience both offline and online.
