Competency aims

Graphic Design is designed to teach you how to
communicate
effectively using graphics. The course provides you with an
understanding of the graphic design process and a visual
language
model for developing quality graphics.

Learning outcomes

This graphic design course will develop your skills,
knowledge and
understanding of the exciting field of graphic design. You will
also
learn how to bring your creative ideas to life.

Course contents

Using a series of lesson readings, exercises, tutorials,
quizzes
and deliverables, you will learn about:
- Visual vocabulary elements (e.g. size, shape, color,
typography)
- Visual grammar guidelines (e.g. contrast, repetition,
alignment,
proximity)
- Document organizational constructs (e.g. page layouts,
charts,
diagrams, simplified line drawings, tables, photographs and
icons)
- A practical step-by-step approach explaining how to apply
the
visual vocabulary and grammar guidelines to create the
various
organizational constructs.
