Competency aims

The aim of the course is to help the student
to perform a thesis which fulfills the
qualitative and ethical requirements of technical or economic research.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to select a suitable research
method for his/her thesis work, and to plan,
implement and report his/her work according to
the chosen method.

Course contents

Hot research topics. Test series planning.
Quantitative methods, i.e. customer satisfaction
and price testing. Qualitative methods, i.e.
expert interviews and focus groups. Case studies and intervention. Ethics and human aspects. Obtaining and and crunching measurement data. Research plans, how to make and use them.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The course is intended for students who plan to
start their thesis work within a year.

Previous course names

The course is held jointly for programs within
Arcada technology and economics, as an
introduction to the program-specific thesis
seminars.
