Course contents

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Create a cover page with your name,
student number, degree and title of the course.

2. Read through both of the following texts
(found on Arcada Finna):
a. Kuada, J. E. 2012. Research methodology:
A project guide for university students.
Frederiksberg: Samfundslitteratur.
b. Mligo, E. S. 2016. Introduction to
research methods and report writing: A practical
guide for students and researchers in social
sciences and the humanities. Eugene, Oregon:
Resource Publications.

3. Answer ALL of the following questions.
Answers should be in essay format.
a. Critically analyse why the research
process is 'systematic'. Support your argument
by
identifying the steps followed in research
design. (1000-1500 words)
b. Select and describe the two research
methods you believe are most suited to research
in the cultural and media sector. Justify your
selection. (1000-1500 words)
c. Create your own research proposal using
the following format. Remember to describe and
explain your decisions in iv, v and vi.

iii. Research questions (3-5) OR hypotheses

iv. Sampling method (200-300 words)
v. Chosen Method (500-800 words)
vi. Research Ethics (100-200 words)

4. Reference your work. Use the Arcada
Styleguide for the correct reference format. You
must include the two texts as references, but
are
welcome to include more sources as well.

5. The final assignment should be no more
than 4000 words in length.

This book exam can be used as an equivalent for
the Metodik course - provide a grade of 4 or 5
is achieved.
If you have already completed the Metodik
course, this may not be used as bredstudier.
