Competency aims

The aim of the course is to deepen the understanding of the audio story as part of dramaturgy.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to understand the possibilities of sound storytelling as part of dramaturgical storytelling. Students are expected to be able to use audio storytelling to enrich and deepen all forms of audiovisual storytelling but also have an understanding of auditory storytelling as such.

The student's ability to use the most common software, such as Pro Tools deepens and becomes flexible. Students can use various types of hardware meant for recording and processing sound within the audio technology on a professional level.

The student understands different formats within auditory narrative: eg. hearing, podcast and documentary radio shows.

The student is allowed to test his limits in his artistic creation and develops his ability to listen and recreate the outside world with the help of auditory means.

Students understand the importance of music for audio storytelling and audiovisual storytelling.

Course contents

Lectures and exercises. Based on texts and with predetermined objectives, audio stories are created which are then discussed and evaluated together. The student works with the audio material during the exercises on the basis of their own creativity but under supervision in the university's premises. In connection with the work on the tasks, we go through and repeat the use of the studio and the Pro Tools software.

The student will also be given the choice of materials such as hearing aids and podcasts which they are then analyzed and presented to the other participants in the course.
