Competency aims

The objective is to gain a better understanding of hands-on logistical management, by applying the tools and methods learned in Basic Logistics to field studies and case studies from real-life industrial situations.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- Observe, evaluate and improve warehousing operations
- Observe, evaluate and improve transportation systems
- Optimize plant and warehouse locations
- Select and operate bar code and RFID systems
- Select and operate GPS-based navigation systems

Course contents

The students will work in teams, visiting companies active in logistics. The teams will solve a number of cases, the topics of which vary from year to year. The cases may typically be related to inventory management, transportation management, distribution planning and locational planning. They typically include aspects of information technology.
