Competency aims
-To give students the skills and understanding to produce solid models and drawings of engineering components.
Learning outcomes
-Use solid modelling software to create 3D solid models from orthographic engineering drawings.
-To create assembly models of engineering components using solid modelling software.
-To create engineering orthographic and isometric drawings from solid models of engineering components.
Course contents
-Drawing (working with sketches).
-Part design (protrusions, cut-outs, thin region features, family of parts, lofted parts, swept parts, molded parts, working with variable tables.
-Assembly Techniques.
-Stress analysis design of components (working with femap and engineering references).

The Solid Modelling course IM-2-045(0) is for Plastics Technology and Plastteknik 1st year students. Plastics Technology and Plastteknik 2nd year and Industrial Management 3rd year students should take IM-2-045(1).
